Abstract Orville and Wilbur Wright never constructed a complete set of drawings for any of their flyers or gliders. In the mid-1940s, friend of the Wright's, Edward Deeds, commissioned Louis P. Christman, to complete, not only a set of drawings for the famous 1903 Flyer, but also the 1900, 1901, and 1902 Gliders, and the 1903 and 1904 Flyers. This collection contains illustrations and correspondence concerning Mosher’s original painting, “The Bishop’s Boys” (2003), depicting the Wright Brothers in flight over Huffman Prairie on May 25, 1910, the only time the brothers ever flew together. The collection also includes materials concerning Mosher’s “Great Moments in U.S. Naval History” series (1997).

Abstract

Dr. Hans von Ohain was the co-inventor of the first successful jet engine. After World War II, he moved to Dayton, Ohio where he was a research scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. His papers contain patents, correspondence, speeches, technical reports, scientific articles, awards, and photographs. Some documents are in German and French, but the majority of the collection is in English.
